Bottle Cap Memory Medals with Jack Ravi
These are my Bottle Cap Memory Medals from the Fodder School October 2024 Challenge with teacher Jack Ravi!
I was on track at the beginning and had the bottle caps ready but I got stuck when it came time to add the rings. I bought these rings before the class and had no idea it would be so difficult to pry them open. I broke my nails and gave up after the various tools I tried didn’t do the job. But, I finally revisited it all yesterday and figured it out.

I really enjoyed using real photos of my parents, grandparents, husband’s family, and a favorite uncle who passed on. My family is big into genealogy, so it was fun pulling up the names and dates of family who came before me. We also had several members in the military, so it was interesting to research war medallions and consider their colors and patterns. Most had stripes, so I went with it.

My sewing machine is still out of commission, so I tried hand stitching on one and then decided they didn’t need it. I selected a charm to embellish each one, which holds the whole thing together.

This has been a reflective time and I look forward to working these medals into future projects.
Much love,
